Dal 2002 Bezzina lavora a Pietrasanta dove per la stagione estiva 2023 saranno esposti più di vent’anni di creazione artistica, di continua ricerca volta a svelare le possibilità e gli aspetti della materia. La sua ricerca può essere tradotta nel concetto di “DIVITION”: Bezzina destruttura la materia, scompone la figura per poi ricomporla in una configurazione nuova e talvolta inaspettata; è un continuo valzer tra distruzione e creazione, ordine e caos in cui il cambiamento rivela e definisce la forza e la vulnerabilità del nostro tempo. Nelle opere di Bezzina coesistono l’immagine ideale e quella erosa dal tempo. Nel corso degli anni, il suo lavoro si è concretizzato in tre grandi serie: Frammentazione, Forza e Fragilità. La prima imita talvolta l’anatomia umana, conferendole un aspetto potente dalla superficie composita, volutamente irregolare. L’artista opera in modo chirurgico eseguendo sulla pelle liscia incisioni, strappi e crepe come tracce dello scorrere del tempo e della vita. Le due serie successive sfruttano tutto il potenziale astratto dei vari materiali, evocando al contempo il mondo vegetale e minerale. Lavorando per stratificazioni, la materia è ricoperta di strati di pittura, di un nero lucente. Un gioco di luci ed ombre sulla superficie delle opere apparentemente semplici, rivelano una forza silenziosa.
Le opere di Bezzina dialogheranno con i luoghi più emblematici della città di Pietrasanta, rivelando una la coesione tra la potenza creatrice e la fragilità del nostro tempo. Senza perdere nulla della sua libertà, l’arte di Bezzina si mette al servizio di una città ricca di storia e orgogliosa del suo patrimonio.

Since 2002, Bezzina has been working in Pietrasanta where for the summer season of 2023 more than twenty years of the artist’s creation will be exhibited, twenty years of perpetual research aimed at revealing the possibilities and aspects of matter. His research can be translated through the concept of “DIVITION”: Bezzina deconstructs matter, breaks down the figure, and then recomposes it into a new and sometimes unexpected configuration. It is a continual waltz between destruction and creation, order and chaos, in which change reveals and defines the strength and vulnerability of our time.
In Bezzina’s works the ideal image coexists with the one of a body eroded by the passage of time. Over the years, his work has materialized into three major series: Fragmentation, Strength, and Fragility.The first sometimes borrows from human anatomy, giving it a powerful appearance and a composite, deliberately uneven surface.
The artist surgically operates on smooth skin, making incisions, tears, and cracks as traces of the passage of time and life.
The following two series exploit all the abstract potential of various materials while evoking the vegetable or mineral world. By working in strata, he goes on by covering the matter with layers of glossy black paint. A play of light and shadow on the surface of seemingly simple works reveals a silent strength.
Bezzina’s works will engage in dialogue with the most emblematic places in the city of Pietrasanta, revealing the cohesion between creative power and the fragility of our time.Without losing any of its freedom, the art of Bezzina put at the service of a city rich in history and proud of its heritage.
